Rosenergoatom: Russian NPPs entered 2022 with a new record exceeding 222.436 billion kWh

In 2021, Rosenergoatom (part of the Electric Power Division of Rosatom) once again confirmed its status as the largest power generating company in the country: its branches - nuclear power plants generated over 222.436 billion kWh.
This volume of electricity generated by the NPP allowed saving more than 111 million tons of CO2-equivalent emissions (if the same volume of electricity was generated by thermal generation).
“In 2021, nuclear power plants operated reliably and safely. We have not only implemented, but also exceeded the state assignment for the generation of electricity," said General Director of Rosenergoatom Andrey Petrov.
The FAS balance in 2021 was fulfilled by almost 102.2% against the planned indicator of 217.674 billion kWh (or by 103.1% compared to the previous year, 2020).
The Kalinin (over 34.3 billion kWh), Balakovo (over 33 billion kWh) and Rostov (over 31.7 billion kWh) nuclear power plants provided the maximum output among the Russian NPPs that made the largest contribution to the next record.
The main factors that played a large role in increasing electricity generation were the commissioning in March 2021 of power unit No. 6 of the Leningrad NPP with a capacity of 1200 MW, as well as the optimization of the duration of repair campaigns by 107 days.
