First graduates of Akkuyu NPP Training Center
November 8, 2022, Büyükeceli, Mersin Province, Turkey. – The first graduates of the Training Center for tradesperson training completed their training at the Akkuyu NPP Construction Site. Workers of the Akkuyu NPP Site completed their advanced professional training and obtained the first certificates in full compliance with requirements of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Turkey.
The first group of graduates, which consists of 14 employees of TSM Enerji, completed the full slinger training course and obtained the state certificates which are recognized in Turkey, Russia and EU countries. In accordance with the Memorandum of Cooperation with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Turkey, Akkuyu NPP Training Center can directly cooperate with a regional authority of the Ministry of Education in Mersin Province. The joint activities within the premises of the Training Center resulted in arrangement of the training system for 11 vocational specialities: welder (3 types of welding), process equipment installer, steel & reinforced-concrete structure installer, NPP equipment installer, heat treater, slinger, formwork assembler, steel fixer and concrete worker. The possibility of undergoing on-the-job advance training, additional education or professional retraining allows to optimize recruiting and hiring new personnel, as well as the transfer interaction with other training centers located in the Republic of Turkey.
Sergei Butckikh, First Deputy Chief Executive Officer – Director of the NPP under Construction, commented on the completion of training of the first graduates of the Training Center, who obtained state diplomas: "The highly skilled workers who are tradespersons and can speak Turkish are given priority during for enrolment for training, so they could effectively interact with their colleagues at the site. The training groups are created on the basis of requests by the heads of construction divisions who have a process-based need for tradesperson training. A new 40-person cohort has already been formed. The specialists will undergo the training course "Scaffolding Assembling Installer" in accordance with the elevated-work-permit requirements of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security of the Republic of Turkey". The Memorandum of Cooperation in the Field of Training and Certification of the Specialists Engaged in Akkuyu NPP Construction was signed on the basis of interaction between AKKUYU NUCLEAR JSC; TİTAN2 IC İÇTAŞ İNŞAAT A.Ş., the general contractor of the plant construction, the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Turkey, and the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Turkey. According to the Memorandum, employees of the plant under construction undergo training at the Training Center for various tradesperson training, which is located at the Akkuyu NPP Construction Site, and obtain state certificates.
It is planned to complete training of about 200 employees by the end of 2022.
