JSC Rusatom Overseas (a Rosatom company) was established in 2011 in order to promote Russian nuclear technologies in the world market.

Since the company had developed its business and fully achieved its goals by 2015, Rosatom State Corporation Strategic Council made a decision to split JSC Rusatom Overseas into two companies: JSC Rusatom Energy International and JSC Rusatom Overseas Inc.

JSC Rusatom Energy International (REIN) runs Rosatom international projects on Russian-design NPP construction and lifetime operation based on equity ownership in project companies.

At present, the company manages development of two major construction projects for large-capacity NPPs: Akkuyu NPP and Hanhikivi-1 NPP.

JSC Rusatom Energy International is a majority shareholder of JSC Akkuyu Nuclear, founded in Turkey in 2010 to implement the project of Akkuyu NPP construction in Mersin Province. The single-unit Hanhikivi-1 NPP construction project is implemented by RAOS Project Oy, which has been the general supplier for Hanhikivi-1 NPP since April 2015. RAOS Project Oy was established in Finland in February 2015 and is a 100% JSC REIN subsidiary.

Another JSC REIN subsidiary, RAOS Voima Oy was founded in Finland in 2014 and owns 34 % shares of Fennovoima Oy, which is the NPP owner and future operator.
